Welcome to... Object of the Week!

We've found some pretty cool things whilst we were taking everything out of the Regal to prepare the building for the restoration work. Every other Friday, I hope to be able to show you something from the cinema and give you the weekend to figure out what it is. On Monday I'll let you know the answer! Feel free to post your guesses in the comments here, or send them via twitter.

There are no prizes at the moment I'm afraid, other than the satisfaction of knowing you got it right, but I will announce the names of everyone who guesses correctly here on the blog, unless you ask me not to.

Some weeks will be harder than others. We're starting off with something fairly easy, since it's our first week...

So... it's not one of WALL-E's eyes, and it's not a part of R2-D2.

About the Project

The Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells opened in 1937, providing film entertainment for the people of Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire. Over the years it has been an important and much-loved part of the town, growing to include an enlarged stage and a community centre.

Supported by a grant of over £680,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, renovation works took place between October 2011 and Summer 2012 to restore and repair many of the traditional features that still exist in the cinema today. Exquisitely painted original murals by George Legge, the 1930s auditorium lighting scheme and parquet flooring are just some of the features that were re-instated during the restoration.

The cinema is now operated by the Regal Tenbury Trust, a charitable trust made up of volunteers from the town. The full programme of films, music and live events can be seen at www.regaltenbury.co.uk, with online booking available.
