Welcome back to the blog in 2013. It's going to be an exciting year, I can tell!
Firstly, we wanted to share the answers from the Scrooge quiz with you. We had people playing along over on twitter, facebook and here in the cinema, and we were very impressed with how many you all knew! Top marks to everyone, but especially to @CheltCinema over on twitter, who got all ten correct!
So, here goes, the Scrooges were;
1. Jim Carrey
2. Michael Caine
3. Alistair Sim
4. Patrick Stewart
5. Bill Murray
6. Albert Finney
7. George C Scott
8. Kelsey Grammar
9. Tim Curry
10. Ross Kemp
We hope you enjoyed that exciting whirlwind of Dickens to round of 2012!
Now, it is of course a new year, so we'll be back soon with a new quiz to test your film knowledge. If you've got a request for a topic for one of our quizzes, do let us know and we'll do our best to oblige.
See you soon!
Welcome to the blog for the HLF restoration of the Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire.

Christmas Film Quiz - Bah, Humbug!
Hello everyone!
We've been promising you a new film quiz for a while, and Christmas seemed like a good opportunity to finally deliver on our promise. But what theme should our Christmas quiz have? Well, we decided we'd celebrate the magic of Christmas as only Dickens could - with an Ebenezer Scrooge quiz!
Simply identify the actors below who have donned the nightcap and slippers to play the famous miser (or a character based on him) in each of the pictures below. Where it's an animated character, name the voice actor.
We'll reveal the answers in the New Year, to give you plenty of time to ponder (and maybe print them out and inflict them on your family at Christmas dinner!).
Enjoy!

The Mistletoe Bride - Short Film Project
Tenbury Wells is famous for its mistletoe - so much so that it has earnt itself the title of 'Mistletoe Capital of the World' according to the media. Every year, more of the white-berried plant is sold here in Tenbury than anywhere else in the country, so as you can probably guess, it's a bit of a big deal around these parts.
To celebrate the town's association with mistletoe, Tenbury celebrates each December with a Mistletoe Festival. This year, we were excited to be involved in the celebration which happened on December 1st. In the preceeding weeks, we worked with various local community groups to put together four short films based on the traditional tale of the Mistletoe Bride.
A good crowd turned up for the World Premiere of our films on Saturday 1st, including many of the cast. In case you missed the screening, here is one of the four films we showed on the day.
Enjoy!

Mystery film: 5 - revealed!
We didn't have any guesses over Christmas on this mystery film - I guess you were all busy preparing for and then enjoying the holidays. And that's no bad thing! Hopefully it was a fantastic and merry one for all of you.
The film was, of course, the Grinch, the Jim Carrey film based on the classic Dr Seuss book 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'.
We'll be starting fresh with another new mystery film this Friday. I hope you're ready for it!

Mystery film: 4 - revealed!
We're a day late with our reveal this week due to some technical difficulties, but as it's given some more of you a chance to guess the film I don't think that's too much of a bad thing!
Congratulations this week go to Steve on the blog and Mandy and David on facebook for correctly identifying the film as the classic "It's A Wonderful Life". In a recent poll, the film was named the public's favourite Christmas film of all time.
We'll have one more mystery film for you before Christmas, another Christmas-theme, coming up a week on Friday. Before that, this Friday you'll have your last mystery object of 2011!

Mystery film: 4
We're back this week with another mystery film; to celebrate the greats of film history, we're taking iconic scenes from films and putting them up onto our miniature Regal screen. All you have to do is tell me what film they're from. The projectionist in our hand-drawn Regal doesn't seem to be very good at focussing the lens in the projector as the picture looks rather blurry... I'm sure you'll manage to guess the film anyway!
This week and in a fortnight we've got a special Christmas edition for you! Can you guess the Christmassy film?

I'll put up the answer on Monday, and credit all the correct guessers then.
Enjoy!

Regal Advent Calendar - Merry Christmas!
Greetings all! It's nearly December, so to share the Christmas spirit with you, we've got a small surprise for you. On our twitter feed @RegalTenburyHLF we'll be opening an imaginary door on our Regal advent calendar every day from the first to the twenty-fourth of December! Behind those doors you'll find Christmassy quotes from Christmassy films, hopefully ready to put you all into a most Christmassy spirit.
To join in, just follow our twitter feed. The advent updates will appear every day at 1pm. You can find all of the advent calendar posts together by searching for the hashtag #RegalAdvent (click on the hashtag to search).
The picture at the top of this post is of a piece of film reel from the Regal's own Christmas history. It's the short few seconds that would have played before film previews on the run up to Christmas.
We hope you enjoy our advent calendar. We think we've covered all the great Christmas films, but if you think we've missed one then please let us know!
